The Hawai’i County Department of Parks and Recreation announces that Seniors’ Recreation Services (ERS) will begin Summer Seniors Schooling on Monday, July 26, 2021. ERS will offer a variety of courses such as the yoga, zumba, tai chi, arts and crafts, dance, sports and more. Course participants must be 55 years of age or older.
âThe staff in our senior activities division have worked hard to develop health and safety protocols that will ensure that our senior classes will be safe and enjoyable for all instructors and participants,â said Maurice Messina, Director of Parks and Hobbies. âAs per the Mayor’s current COVID-19 rule, we will have reduced class sizes and will adjust as necessary with future class offerings if there is a change in the allowed gathering sizes. “
Classes will last nine weeks, throughout the week ending Friday, September 24 with different courses offered in Hilo, PÄhoa, Mt. Vue, Volcan, NÄ’Älehu, HÅlualoa and Kailua-Kona. âWe are grateful to our many instructors who enable our elders to learn new skills, recreate and socialize responsibly through these classes during these difficult times,â said Messina.
